The algorithm for performing the procedure when detecting pediculosis

I. Preparation for the procedure:

1. Introduce yourself to the patient, explain the course and purpose of the procedure. Ensure that the patient has informed consent for the procedure to be performed.

2. Examine the patient’s hairy parts.

3. Put on an extra dressing gown, scarf, gloves if pediculosis is detected in

patient.

4. Have the patient sit on a chair or couch covered with oilcloth.

5. Put the cape on the patient.

II. Execution of the procedure:

1. Treat the patient’s hair with one of the disinfectants (according to the instructions).

2. Cover the patient’s hair with a polyethylene scarf, and then with a regular one for 20 minutes (according to the instructions for the disinfectant). When using WELL-2 shampoo, simply lather your hair.

3. Rinse the patient’s hair with warm water.

4. Rinse the patient’s hair with 6%-9% vinegar solution.

5. Comb the patient’s hair with a fine comb (over a basin or baking sheet)

6. Rinse your hair with warm water and dry it.

7. Examine the hair for the presence of nits (if single ones are found, then remove them mechanically, if there are a lot of them, then treat the hair with 9% vinegar solution and cover the hair with a scarf for 20 minutes, and then repeat from point 6)

III. End of procedure:

9. Remove gloves and process them in accordance with the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological regime.

10. Wash your hands.

Notes:

1. Treatment of children under 5 years of age, lactating and pregnant women, people with damaged skin (dermatitis, eczema, etc.) with phosphorus-containing pediculicides is prohibited.

2. The actions of personnel in case of detection of pediculosis are regulated by the Order

No. 342 of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation of November 26, 1998 “On strengthening measures for the prevention of epidemic typhus and the fight against pediculosis.”

3. Processing of hair, clothes in medical facilities is carried out in special pest control departments.

Head washing algorithm:

I. Preparation for the procedure:

3. Treat hands in a hygienic way, dry. Put on gloves.

4. Put on a disposable apron.

5. Put a chair at the head of the bed on the working side; put an empty container of water on a chair.

6. Fill another container with warm water, put next to it.

7. Undress the patient to the waist and cover the bare part of the body with a sheet.

8. Comb the patient’s hair. Remove all hairpins, hairpins. Take off glasses.

9. Spread an oilcloth under the head and shoulders of the patient, the end of which is lowered into a container standing on a chair; along the edge of the oilcloth, put a rolled-up towel around the head.

14. Unfold a clean dry towel, raise the patient’s head and wipe

dry his hair. If he is cold, wrap his head in a towel or scarf.

15. Oilcloth, towel, lying under the head, put in a waterproof bag.

16. If necessary, change the sheet.

17. Comb the patient’s hair. Offer him a mirror.
