Personal and group tourist equipment

Making a hiking trip, like any other type of activity, requires the necessary, in this case tourist, equipment. It can be conditionally divided into personal, group and special.

Personal equipment is all that is necessary for each tourist personally. Group equipment is used by the whole group. Special equipment is required to perform local history, expeditionary tasks (geological, archaeological, botanical, etc.). Special equipment also includes items (personal and group) associated with the specifics of a particular trip (ropes, carabiners, cords, mosquito nets, etc.). The need for such equipment arises during difficult hikes, so we will not talk about it now.

General requirements for tourist equipment: safety of operation, strength, minimum weight and volume, ease of use, versatility, comfort, hygiene, aesthetics.

First of all, the equipment used, various devices should ensure the safety of tourists. This requirement, as we have already noted, is given special importance. Since it is often about saving life and health, sometimes it is necessary to abandon things that are light, but fragile. We must remember one simple truth – in the campaign there is no way to replace a spoiled thing, the ability to repair it is limited. Therefore, clothing and equipment must be durable.

Considering the fact that tourists carry all the equipment on a hike, the weight of the equipment should be minimal.

Any equipment should also be easy to use (it is unlikely that you will take a tent on a camping trip, the installation of which requires many additional parts and time).

The equipment should provide the maximum possible comfort both during the movement and during the rest of the tourists.

Tourist clothing must be hygienic, ensuring the normal functioning of the body during increased and prolonged physical exertion and various weather conditions.

And, of course, the equipment used should be aesthetic, pleasing to the eye, uplifting. As a rule, this refers to the appearance of things, their color. Gone are the notions that the best tourist clothing is a burned-out, worn-out windbreaker. Now tourists are trying to wear bright, beautiful things. In addition, as we will see below, this is another of the security requirements.

The list of personal equipment of a tourist should include the most necessary things, taking into account the complexity and type of hike, the climatic conditions of the area.
