Task execution technology:

1. Create a new document (workbook) and save it in your folder as a file named Table (command File – Save as) .

2. Try different ways to highlight sections of your spreadsheet.

“MS Excel 2003. Creating and editing a spreadsheet document1”

By completing this topic, you will learn:

Create and populate a table with data;

· Format and edit data in a cell;

Use simple formulas in the table;

· Copy formulas to another location.

Task: Create a table containing the train schedule from Nyu-Vasyuki station to Novobobanovsk station. The general view of the “Schedule” table is shown in the figure.

Task execution technology:

1. Start the Excel 2003 spreadsheet.

2. Fill in the table in accordance with the sample shown in the figure. To do this, follow these steps:
• select cell A1 (click on it with the left mouse button) where you will enter text;
• type the text and press the key Enter ;
• fill in column A ;

Attention! Text in cells is left-aligned, and numbers are right-aligned!

• Select cell B1 , type the text according to the picture. Fill in column B. The text of column A is closed by column B, do not be afraid and leave everything as it is, then we will format everything.
• Complete column C.

3. Justify the width of column A so that all the text placed in the cells is visible. To do this, follow these steps:

With the mouse:
• Move the mouse pointer to the top line of the table where the column headings (letters) are placed, place the pointer on the border (line) of cell A so that the pointer changes to a black vertical line with a double-sided horizontal arrow ; Double-click on the separator line, as a result of which the column width will be aligned with the longest line placed in it (the name of the station).
• You can achieve the same by pressing the left mouse button and dragging the column border to the right or left.

Through the main menu:
• Select column A by clicking on its heading;
• Execute the main menu command Format – Column – AutoFit Width;
• Equalize the widths of columns B and C in the same way.

4. Edit the name of the station in cell A3 . To do this, follow these steps:

• Select cell A3 ;
• To switch to edit mode, press the F2 key, change the word “Small” to “Great” and press the Enter key.
• Select cell A5 , double-click on it with the left mouse button and replace “Velikomyshkino” with “Lower Myshkino”
• Select cell A4 , go to the formula bar and replace “Nuzhino” with “Nuzhino”.

5. Save the table in the folder My Documents _ 83 _ Petrov_Poezd
