Methodology for determining biological age.

To determine the biological age (BV), tests of varying degrees of complexity are used. In this case, the logical scheme of aging assessments includes the following steps:

1. calculation of the actual value of BV for a given individual (according to a set of clinical and physiological parameters);

2. calculation of the proper value of BV for a given individual (according to his calendar age);

3. comparison of the actual and proper value (by how many years the subject is ahead or behind the same age in terms of aging), that is, WBV – NBV.

To calculate the biological age, the following indicators are used, which are measured according to a clearly established methodology:

1. Systolic (ADS) and diastolic (ADD) blood pressure is measured according to the generally accepted technique using a tonometer on the right arm, in a sitting position, three times with an interval of 5 minutes. The lowest score counts. Pulse pressure (ADP) – the difference between ADS and ABP;

2. Vital capacity (VC) is measured in a sitting position after 2 hours. after eating with an expensive type spirometer;

3. The time of holding the breath after a deep breath (ZDV) and a deep exhalation (Zdvyd) is measured three times with an interval of 5 minutes. With a stopwatch. The largest value of both indicators is taken into account. The subject should be instructed that the result obtained reflects his functionality, therefore he must show the best result;

4. Static balancing (SB) is measured in the standing position of the subject on the left leg, without shoes, eyes closed, arms at the sides of the body, without previous training. The following is taken into account: the best result (the longest standing time on one leg) out of 3 attempts with 5-minute intervals between them;

5. Body weight (BW) is measured and recorded using medical scales in light clothes, without shoes;

6. Calendar age (CV) – the number of full years lived;

7. Health self-assessment index (HSE) is determined by a special questionnaire. The Health Self-Assessment Questionnaire has the following questions:

1. Do you have headaches?

2. Can you say that you wake up easily from any noise?

3. Are you worried about pain in the region of the heart?

4. Do you think that your eyesight has deteriorated?

5. Do you think that your hearing has deteriorated?

6. Do you try to drink only boiled water?

7. Do the younger ones give you a seat in public transport?

8. Do you worry about joint pain?

9. Does the change in the weather affect your well-being?

10. Do you have periods when you lose sleep due to anxiety?

11. Do you suffer from constipation?

12. Are you worried about pain in the liver area (in the right hypochondrium)?

13. Do you get dizzy?

14. Do you find it harder to concentrate than in previous years?

15. Do you worry about memory loss?

16. Do you feel heartburn, tingling, “goosebumps” in different parts of the body?

17. Are you worried about noise or ringing in your ears?

18. Do you keep one of the following medicines in your home first-aid kit: validol, nitroglycerin, heart drops?

19. Do you have swelling in your legs?

20. Do you have to refuse certain foods?

21. Do you have shortness of breath when walking fast?

22. Are you worried about pain in the lumbar region?

23. Have you ever used any mineral water for medical purposes?

24. Can you say that you started crying easily?

25. Do you go to the beach?

26. Do you think that at the moment you are as efficient as before?

27. Do you have periods when you feel joyfully excited, happy?

28. How do you assess the state of your health?

The first 27 questions are answered ” yes and no”, the last – ” good”, “satisfactory”, “bad” and “very bad”. The number of unfavorable answers to the first 27 questions is considered. In addition, 1 is added if the last question is answered “bad” or “very bad”. The final value of the health self-assessment index gives a quantitative characteristic of health, which is 0 for “ideal” and 28 for “very bad” health.

The values of individual indicators should be expressed in the following units of measurement: ATC, ATC, ATP – in mmHg, VC – in ml, HFA, Zdvyd and SB – in seconds, SOP – in mind. one. (number of unfavorable responses), BW – in kg, calendar age – in years.

To calculate the actual BV (DBV), the following formulas are used:

for men: WBV = 44.3 + 0.68 * POPs + 0.4 * ATS – 0.22 * ATD – 0.22 * ATP –

0.004*ZHEL – 0.1*ZDV + 0.08*ZDVvyd – 0.13*SB;

for women: WBV u003d 17.4 + 0.82 * POPs – 0.005 * ATS + 0.16 * ATD + 0.35 * ATP –

0.004*ZHEL + 0.04*ZDV – 0.06*ZDVd –0.11*SB.

To calculate the proper BV (NBV), the following formulas are used:

for men: NBV = 0.661*CV + 16.9;

for women: NBV u003d 0.629 * KV + 15.3.

The estimates obtained are relative: the starting point is the population standard – the average value of the degree of aging at a given calendar age (CA) for a given population. This approach makes it possible to rank individuals of the same calendar age according to the degree of “secular drift” and, consequently, according to the “reserve” of health.

The authors ranked health assessments based on the definition of BV, depending on the magnitude of the deviation of the latter from the population standard:

I rank – from -15.0 to -9.0 years

II rank – from – 8.9 years to – 3.0 years

III rank – from -2.9 to 2.9 years

IV rank – from 3.0 to 8.9 years

V rank – from 9.0 to 15.0 years

Thus, rank I corresponds to a sharply slow rate of aging, that is, the aging rate of these subjects is significantly behind the population standard, and rank V corresponds to a sharply accelerated aging rate, the biological age of these patients significantly exceeds the average BV of their peers; The 3rd rank displays the correspondence between BV and Kv. Individuals assigned to the 4th and 5th ranks in terms of aging rates should be included in the contingent threatening for health reasons; they must be included in the dispensary control, in-depth clinical diagnostic examination, if necessary, hospitalization.
