Topic 1. Designing the perfect VR device

As part of the first topic, students explore existing models of virtual reality devices, identify key parameters, and then perform a design task – design their own VR device. Students explore VR controllers and generalize possible principles for controlling virtual reality systems. They compare different types of control and draw conclusions about what is needed to “deceive” the brain and immerse yourself in another world.

Students will be able to assemble their own model of a VR headset: design, model, cut / print the necessary elements on a 3D printer, and then test the independently developed device.

Topic 2. Developing VR/AR applications

After forming the basic concepts of virtual reality, gaining skills in working with VR equipment in the first case (34 hours), students move on to consider the concepts of augmented and mixed reality, analyze their main differences from virtual reality. They create their own AR-application (augmented reality – augmented reality), practicing the skills of working with the software needed in the future, skills of design design and design analytics.

Students will learn how to work with the largest repositories of free 3D models, and will be able to minimally adapt models that are freely available to their needs. Acquaintance with the structure of the interface of the program for 3D modeling begins (at the discretion of the mentor – 3ds Max, Blender 3D, Maya), the main commands. The concepts of “polygonality” and “texture” are introduced.
