Basic concepts about the psychological compatibility of members of a military team (crew, combat crew)

Military activity today has a pronounced collective character.

Questions of psychological compatibility of servicemen are of paramount importance. Therefore, in most cases, it is not enough for a soldier to have only the ability and readiness to perform his immediate duties with high quality. He must also have the ability to work in a team, interact effectively with other crew members (combat crew numbers), and have an internal focus on collectivism. The psychological basis for the interaction of military personnel in a team is the statutory relationship between them, which develops in the process of joint service and everyday life. In the process of joint life of military personnel, a conflict may arise. Any conflict always negatively affects the relationship in the group, and consequently, the level of combat capability and combat readiness of the squad, crew, crew. The ability to live without conflict is one of the requirements of military activity. But it does not come by itself, it must be learned and taken into account that the general task of the military collective is higher than personal needs and interests. At the same time, we must remember that any compromises should not humiliate the personal dignity of a person. Military service is the first stage, where the level of a person’s readiness for adult life is checked, where everyone receives a rating for the past 18 years, without discounts and conventions.

The modern level of technical equipment of the Armed Forces not only increases the requirements for the general educational level, physical fitness and moral and psychological qualities of conscripts, but also allows them to acquire the professional knowledge, skills and qualities necessary in life after being transferred to the reserve in the course of military service. Therefore, the passage of military service for a young man is, in fact, his preparation for adulthood.
