This configuration meets the minimum system requirements for programs used by employees.

Twisted pair – UTP, Category 5e. Four-pair cable, data rates up to 100 Mbps when using 2 pairs and up to 1000 Mbps when using 4 pairs. Category 5e cable is the most common and is used to build computer networks. The advantages of this cable are lower cost and smaller thickness.

The DES-3226S network switch has 24 10/100Mbps FastEthernet ports and can optionally be equipped with 100BaseFX or GigabitEthernet modules, necessary for connecting high-speed equipment and providing additional flexibility to the switch.

proxy server. – a service (a set of programs) in computer networks that allows clients to make indirect requests to other network services. First, the client connects to the proxy server and requests some resource (for example, e-mail) located on another server. Then the proxy server either connects to the specified server and obtains the resource from it, or returns the resource from its own cache (in cases where the proxy has its own cache). In some cases, a client request or server response can be modified by a proxy server for certain purposes. A proxy server allows you to protect the client’s computer from some network attacks and helps keep the client anonymous.

A file server is a dedicated server designed to perform file I / O operations and store files of any type. Advantages: low cost of development; high development speed; low cost of updating and changing software. Disadvantages: the growth in the number of clients dramatically increases the volume of traffic and the load on data networks; high costs for upgrading and maintaining business logic services on each client workstation; low system reliability.

A mail server (e-mail server) is a computer program that transmits messages from one computer to another. Usually the mail server works “behind the scenes”, and users are dealing with another program – an email client.

A web server is a server that accepts HTTP requests from clients. A web server refers to both the software that performs the functions of a web server, and the computer itself on which this software runs.

Terminal server, terminal server – a server that provides clients with computing resources (processor time, memory, disk space) for solving problems. A terminal server is a very powerful computer (or cluster) connected over a network to terminal clients, which are low-powered or outdated workstations or specialized solutions for accessing a terminal server. The terminal server is used for remote maintenance of the user or administrator with the provision of a desktop or console.

A print server is software or a device that allows a group of wired and wireless network users to share a printer in a home or office. It has a high-speed USB 2.0 port, LPT or COM ports for connecting a printer. Supporting many network operating systems, it brings a high level of flexibility and productivity to the printing process.


As a result of the work carried out, an enterprise network was studied that meets the Fast Ethernet technology standard and has a “workgroup” method of organizing computers in a network. When designing the network topology, the most important criteria were reliability and cost minimization. The presence of communication equipment of laid cables was also taken into account. However, when designing the network, parameters such as: wall thickness were not taken into account; the presence of landings and stair coverings, dignity. nodes and. etc. Therefore, the data obtained can be considered abstract.

The developed local area network meets all the stated requirements.
